Freecash is run by Almedia, a Berlin company that launched the platform in 2020 as Freeskins, a site for earning free CS:GO and Fortnite skins, then rebranded it to Freecash in 2021 as it widened into surveys, offer walls, cash, and crypto. That history matters, because the DNA here is gaming rewards and it still shapes how the site pays.

It is also a site with serious, well-documented problems. In April 2026 Apple removed Freecash from the App Store and terminated Almedia's developer account, citing deceptive, scam-style marketing, and Google Play pulled it within hours. That followed months of reporting. A January 2026 Malwarebytes analysis found the app's privacy policy allowed collecting highly sensitive data, including race, religion, sexual orientation, health, and biometrics, and described Freecash as behaving like a data broker between game makers and users. Wired and TechCrunch documented ads that sold it as easy "get paid to scroll" money when it actually pays you to install and spend inside mobile games. Almedia denies wrongdoing, says its apps were fully compliant, and has appealed.

That reframes the usual reassurance. Freecash claims more than 80 million users, but that figure is self-reported. Its Trustpilot average is high, around 4.8, but TechCrunch reported the strong store rating itself may have been inflated to keep the app live, so treat the reputation as contested rather than proof.

Freecash leans hard on games and gamification. Level progression, leaderboards, competitions, and achievements are the spine of the experience, not decoration. That is a good fit if you like the games and a grind if you don't.
